    Obituary for Marion Garrod Fargey

    Marion Garrod Fargey
Marion was born on February 1, 1923 on the family farm near Portreeve in Southwestern Sask.. She was the 2nd of four children of Robert and Lillian (Herring) Wicks. She remembered a happy childhood in a close and loving family. Marion received her public and high school education at Portreeve Consolidated School. She attended Moose Jaw Normal School in 1941 and 1942 and began teaching near Watrous. There she met Ray Fargey and they were married 1943. Marion and Ray owned a cafe in Lacadena in the early 1950's where she honed her excellent pie making skill. She later taught in several other rural schools and in the village of Brooksby where she raised three children and assisted in business ventures with Ray. In 1969 the family moved to Tisdale where she finished her teaching career of 29 years in 1983. After retiring Marion became active in the Tisdale Hospital Auxiliary, St. Paul's United Church and the Superannuated Teacher's of Saskatchewan. She enjoyed many card games and activities at the Seniors Center and took several trips with her sisters Beth & Dorothy. Her family gave her the most joy and pride. Marion was predeceased by her parents Robert and Lillian Wicks and her husband Ray. She will be lovingly remembered by Sharon (Alan) Brockman of Saskatoon, Joanne (Doug) Woolsey of Saskatoon, & Ken Fargey of Calgary, grandsons Colby Grypiuk of Winnipeg, David & Shauna Grypiuk and great-granddaughters, Rebecca and Kaitlyn of Vegreville, sisters Dorothy Berntsen of Nipawin, Beth Robertson of Saskatoon, brother Bob Wicks (Lil Cunningham) of Calgary and nieces and nephews.
