Verlie Diana Allgrove was born May 14, 1955 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to parents John and Lorna Smith. She grew up in the Saskatoon area and this is where she met the love of her life, Lyle Allgrove. They were joined in marriage on June 28, 1975. They lived in Saskatoon for the first few years of their marriage; adding to their family Victoria in 1979. In 1980, Lyle and Verlie set out on their next adventure; they bought a farm by the Barrier River. Once again adding to their family their son Trevor arrived in 1985. Then in 1991, a daughter Pamela would join and complete their family. Many beautiful, happy years would be spent all together on this farm.
Verlie worked at various jobs; but always enjoyed helping on the farm helping alongside Lyle. Although a very hard worker in her day to day employment; Verlie’s first and foremost job was being a mom. She enjoyed every moment with Victoria, Trevor and Pamela; running the kids to their sporting events, school activities or just being there to help them out in any situation. She was a proud mom! Verlie loved her grandchildren; Verlie and Lyle loved every visit with the grandkids; either they were visiting them or the grandkids coming for a visit; every cuddle and kiss was received with pure love. Verlie enjoyed camping at the lake; she loved travelling, whether it be to an exotic destination or to spend time with all her family; and of course her animals. She loved any animal, from nature’s creatures to the pets they had at home, she had a soft spot for them all.
Verlie is predeceased by her parents John and Lorna Smith and an infant sister Sharlene in 1952.
Left to cherish Verlie’s memory is her loving husband Lyle; children: Victoria (Ryan) Steinhaeusser, Trevor (Michelle) Allgrove and Pamela Allgrove; grandchildren: Rhys, Rheid and Hannah Steinhaeusser, Marshall and Grace Allgrove; brother Larry Smith; as well as many more loved family and friends.
Our lives were forever changed on April 12, 2015, when Verlie was suddenly taken far too soon from us. Our wife, mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will forever be loved, missed and remembered in our hearts.
To love a mom and then to part,
Is the greatest pain to the human heart.
Many years of striving with little to play,
Loving and giving all the way.
A cherished smile with a heart of gold,
To the greatest mom the world could hold.
Many happy memories, fond and true,
From children who thought the world of you.
Beautiful memories will be cherished forever,
Of the happy days we had together.
