Jacquelene “Jackie” Eva Ann Kozial (nee Derenowski) passed away August 11, 2016 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan at the age of 56 years.
She was born in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan on June 2, 1960 to parents Walter and Claudia Derenowski. She completed her education in Porcupine Plain in 1978; shortly after she married Lane Smith. Together they had two sons; Rodger and Brock; they lived in Hudson Bay and later moved to their farm in the Bjorkdale area. During this time they grain farmed and also added llamas to the farming operation. Jackie took great pride in her yard and animals, her love of nature, skills and talent for gardening showed in the beautiful, immaculate property that they established.
Jackie also shared her life with John Kozial. Together they shared a passion for travelling and exploring the beauty of butterflies and all that nature had to offer.
Jackie also had a love of music, cooking and sewing; and at an early age she was able to sew her own clothing. She was able to use her keen eye decorating in making a simple, plain home into an “almost Palace”. These abilities were used when she had a home based business; she was able to share her skills with other people in their homes with decorating.
As the years passed Jackie’s health deteriorated and she moved to Tisdale, residing on her own despite her struggles with her health. Her determination saw her through many tough times and was still able find a way to touch her family and friends hearts.
Jackie was predeceased by her mother Claudia in 2007.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Rodger Smith and Brock (Erica) Smith; father Walter (Carmen) Derenowski; brothers: Merlin (Judy) Derenowski and Raymond (Petula) Derenowski and sister Tania (Darin) Abbott; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
