Marie Georgina Courchene was born August 14, 1927 at Fife Lake, Saskatchewan to Arthur and Marie Courchene. The family made several moves including Crystal Springs, Erwood and then finally Hudson Bay, where she met her future husband, George Currey.
Marie and George were married on November 15, 1951 in Tisdale with the wedding dance at Steen. Their summers were spend farming in the Steen area, while they worked for Hoffus Logging in the winters near Armit Saskatchewan. She retired due to health issues in 1985 and moved to the Kelsey Lodge in Tisdale, where she lived until she moved to the Cedar Villa in 2012. In 2014, her only surviving sibling, Elodie Trottier, joined her and they both treasured the time they got to spend together.
