Loriane was born in Unity, Saskatchewan on March 7, 1926 to Lorne and Tena Knuff. She was the third child of ten, the oldest daughter. They lived on a farm near Adanac until about 1936. The family then moved to a farm at Sylvania where Kathy and Gary Knuff now live. She went to a rural school, Beech Grove.
In 1941, her father bought the general store in Sylvania. She then could go to high school in town. She worked in the store and with her father who was an auctioneer. It was at an auction where she met her future husband, Cameron Beatty. They were married on November 11, 1946. They lived in Sylvania for all their 52 years of marriage where they raised 5 children.
Cameron became a mechanic and a road builder with Beatty and McMurdo construction. Loraine was a bookkeeper for the company for many years. She was very active in the Sylvania community with the school board and skating rink.
Loraine moved to Cedar Villa in Tisdale in 2009 and a care home in Saskatoon in 2013.
She was predeceased by her husband Cameron in 1998, father and mother, brothers: Gordon (Florence), Arnold, Howard (Lois) and Bill Knuff; sisters: Eileen (Ian) McCaffery, Helen Angus and Lila (Melville) Ellis; brother-in-law Art Moen.
She will always be remembered by her children: Shirley (Jim) Holowachuk, Bill Beatty, Linda (Ed) Collins, Murray (Linda) Beatty, Barb (Doug) Obed; sisters Kay Moen and Hazel (George) Bakewell; sisters-in-law Phyllis Knuff and Kathy Knuff and brother-in-law Jim Angus. Loraine is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
