Obituary for Sandra Stephanie Penner

Sandra Penner (nee Strmotich) was born May 2, 1952 in Davidson, Saskatchewan to Tony and Frances Strmotich. She and her four sisters resided on the family farm near Davidson. She started her working life in Davidson as a dental assistant, where she met Bob, and the two married in 1974. They lived in Brandon, MB for awhile before leaving everything behind to travel the world for a year.
They lived in Brandon, Outlook and Saskatoon, where Cara was born. The opportunity to start a business beckoned, and in 1980 they moved to Tisdale, where Carson and Cory were born.
Sandra and Bob loved to travel, with numerous trips to Bermuda to see Bob’s sister, family vacations, and ski trips. They travelled on their own and with friends.
Sandra’s greatest joy was taking care of others, especially her grandchildren. Just this past year she was delighted to have two new granddaughters added to the family. Her grandchildren were enamoured with their “Ama” and loved their time with her at the Lake and in town. She was actively involved in and very proud to be a part of the Tisdale community, sharing her smile and helping others whenever needed.
After Bob passed in 2007, Sandra continued to travel to Bermuda, to Panama with her family, and on other vacations with family and her friends. Her friends provided her with so much laughter and joy; her Friday night bar group and many other friends were so very important and special in her life. She was looking forward to two trips with family and friends when she passed suddenly.
Sandra’s deep and abiding faith in the Lord and her commitment to the Catholic Church provided comfort and strength to her throughout her life.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Bob, and her parents, Tony and Frances Strmotich. She leaves to mourn her children and grandchildren, Cara (Chad), Marty, and James, Carson (Andrea), Casey, Drew and Josie, Cory (Terra) and Stella, together with her sisters Pat (Bruce), Toni (John), Maria (Don) and Marcia (Glen), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the John Barron Community Trust in Tisdale.
