Freda Sarah Tyerman passed away peacefully at Parkland Place in Melfort, Saskatchewan on April 29, 2018 at the age of 90. Freda was born in Star City, Saskatchewan on June 6, 1927 to Edward and Ethel (Starkey) jones. She was the fourth child in a family of six, born minutes before twin brother Fred. Her parents homesteaded about seven miles southwest of Star City. She attended Excelsior School where she completed her grade ten.
She worked as a sales clerk in the grocery and clothing store in Star City for several years before her marriage to Raymond Tyerman of Valparaiso on May 1, 1951. To this union two children were born; Ralph Sidney (1952) AND Barbara Eileen (1953). Freda was a vital cog in their farming operation, from field work to looking after animals, delivering meals and gas to the field and running for repairs. Freda was a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society for twenty years after the death of Ralph in 1977, after the death of her husband Raymond in 2002, she continued to reside at the farm. In the fall of 2004, she moved to a condo in Melfort, then to Nirvana Level 3 Care home in the summer 2011, then to Parkland Place in the summer of 2012 where she resided until her passing. As her dementia symptoms increased, she required more and more care.
Freda was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. She enjoyed bowling, reading, playing cards and spending time with family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many holiday trips were to visit family. She was especially close to her daughter Barbara and sisters Mildred and Betty.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Barbara (Earl) Davis and their children Michael (Julie), Zoe and Keeley; Blaine, Anika and Kadence; Lynette (Kelly) Kowalchuk, Colton and Brielle;Jerrod (Cassandra), Carson and Tensley; daughter-in-la Diane 9Doug) snider and Children Tina (Michael) Sauers, Andrew (Amy) Matthew and Abigail; Laura (Ryan) Regehr, Oliver, Maddox and Solomon. Freda is also survived by sisers-in-law Helen Jones and Audrey (Murray) Mitchell; as well as many caring nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Freda is predeceased by her husband Raymond (2002), son Ralph (1977), parents Edward and Ethel Jones, sisters Vera (Stan) Mitchell, Mildred (John) Hardcastle, Betty (Doug) Clark, brothers Robert (Ethel) Jones and Fred Jones; also Raymond’s brothers Ralph, Arthur (Catherine) and Lawrence (Alma) Tyerman.
