    Life Story for Darren Will

Darren William Will, late of Tisdale, SK, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at the age of 47 years. Darren was born on August 1, 1971, at Tisdale. Darren was predeceased by his grandparents, Roy and Willow Will, and William (Bill) and Dolly Yelland. Darren is survived by his partner and companion, Myrna Wiesner; parents, Karl and Joan Will; brother Michael (Paula Faford); his dear nieces, Kate Will and Livia Will; Grandma Jeanette Yelland; and numerous relatives and friends.

Darren’s interests and community involvement were extensive. He began playing hockey as a young boy and continued to the present with the Eldersley Eggshells. When Darren wasn’t playing hockey, he would spend numerous hours at the Recplex watching hockey, goal judging and cheering. When his nieces began playing hockey, he loved to go and watch their games, and as they became involved in other activities, he enjoyed going to watch his Kate and Laura. At home, Darren enjoyed watching young people’s activities whether it was football, basketball or Christmas concerts

Darren was a proud member of the Legion and was a staunch supporter of the Tisdale Air Cadets. Remembrance Day was an important and special day for him. He enjoyed visiting with “his seniors”, brightening their day with a visit and hug. Darren belonged to the Kinsmen Club, was involved in fund raisers and supported community events. More recently, Darren extended his helping hands and his big heart to helping with Awana and the Youth Group at the Alliance Church. Age didn’t matter to Darren; he cared for them all.

Darren enjoyed summers at Marean Lake and spending time at the family cabin. He loved the water and was especially fond of watching his nieces doing water sports and would follow along on the jet ski, always taking the time to give his nieces a special jet ski ride.

Darren was raised on the farm and spent most of his life farming. He was a dedicated and hard worker. He enjoyed his John Deere tractors, the older the better! Darren spent many hours riding his quad down the back roads and across the fields, never missing an opportunity to spot a deer or other wildlife. He looked forward to the first warm day in the spring when he could fire up his motorcycle and take it out on the road.

Some of Darren’s other interests included collecting farm toys and war memorabilia, watching old movies, “the classics”, especially John Wayne. He enjoyed the Oilers and supported the Roughriders, even if they were having a less than stellar season.

And then there was Elvis! Darren loved Elvis! He spent many, many hours listening to Elvis music, reading all about Elvis, watching his movies and collecting Elvis memorabilia. One of Darren’s dreams was realized when he travelled to Memphis in 2006 and visited Graceland.

Darren’s quick wit and quirky sense of humor will be deeply missed.

Our appreciation and tribute to Darren will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the Alliance Church Gymnasium, 1321 – 96th Street, Tisdale, SK. Friends, family, those whose knew and loved Darren may join us between 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and share your stories and your memories, and extend comfort to each other.

Friends so wishing may make a donation, in Darren’s memory, to Ronald McDonald House Charities, or to the local charity of your choice. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family’s on-line obituary at: www.barronsfuneralchapel.com
