    Obituary for Frank Dunkley

    Frank Dunkley
Frank, the fourth son of George and Lilly Dunkley, passed away at the Royal University Hospital on April 9, 2014. He was born in Gull Lake, SK. on July 1, 1922.
Frank was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 60 years in 2002, Alma; his five brothers, Ed, Bill, Ernie, Tim and Dave and his grandson Tim Coulter. Frank is survived by his daughter Shirley (Gerald), his granddaughters Leanne and Lanette (Ken), six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; and his son Lyle (Leigh), granddaughter April (Blaine) two great grandchildren and grandson Lyndon (Teri). Also, he is survived by his two sisters, Bessie and Phylliss, who currently live in British Columbia, his great aunt Myrle Dunkley and many other Dunkley family members. Frank is also survived by his brother-in-law Norman (Mary) Allan and sister-in-law Sheila (Gary) Freeden .
Frank and his family moved to the Tisdale area in 1923 and homesteaded in the Florentine School district. From the time he started helping out, in his preschool days, until 1964 he worked with his father and brothers in a variety of businesses that included clearing farm land, digging dugouts, operating two lumber mills and mixed farming. In 1964 Frank and Alma moved to the area of the Dunkley homestead and commenced a mixed farming business with their children. They operated a very successful feedlot operation for 18 years until 1982 and then they dedicated their efforts to grain farming. From 1964, Frank always had the immediate family involved in the farming business; daughter, son and grandchildren. In 2006, the farming operation was sold. He was finally retired after 80 years of diligent, honest, hard work.
Soon, thereafter, he moved into Tisdale to start another chapter in his life, where he continued with his gardening, and quickly discovered the pleasure in fishing and the joy in having his morning coffee time with his new friends and neighbors. Frank lived by the motto "I treat everyone the way I want to be treated."
