Obituary for Dianne Agnes Van Oene

There is no such thing as goodbyes, so to beloved Mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, we shall say "see you on the other side."

Dianne Agnes Van Oene (née McCallum) passed from this side to the other, on October 7th 2014 at the age of 68. Our family joke is she didn't want to try 69. :-)

Dianne's early years were spent in Ontario, primarily in Belleville and at their family cottage at the lake. She always spent as much time in the serenity of the water as possible, even if it was sitting by the dugout on the farm. As a young adult, Dianne spent a major portion of her time as a professional dancer, and as a dance instructor. She met her husband, Paul, while he was in Ontario, and were soon married, moved to Tisdale, Saskatchewan to farm with Paul's family, and very shortly after to become a mom. Dianne was always highly involved her daughters activities, such as coaching ball, and leading Brownies, and Guides. She and Paul also owned the local Radio Shack for many years. All of these involvements grew her family in the form of many "adopted" kids who frequently would call just to say "Hi Mom! I'm coming home!"

Dianne was a very special lady. She was more than a mom, but a mentor, confidant and best friend to her daughter, grandchildren and to many others who knew her. And if she felt you needed it, gave you a piece of her mind openly and honestly.

Dianne is survived by her daughter Shari (Clem), her grandchildren Wyatt, Desiray, and Tyden, her sister Heather (Ivan), their children Caitlin (Joe) and Tyrel, and more people who were family to her, blood and otherwise, than can be counted. She requested no funeral, but just a private gathering of loved ones at a later time. Please make a donation to your favorite charity, plant a flower or rose, or best of all, treasure those who you love and make sure they know it, live every day to the fullest, and don't take life for granted.

See you on the other side Momma Spitfire!
