Obituary for Borden Bradley Farber

Borden Bradley Farber was born April 1st, 1951, in Rose Valley to John & Mary Farber. He was the oldest of four boys- twins, Don & Dave, and Jerry. Borden grew up in the towns of Fosston, Holdfast, Watrous, and then Hendon.

Borden met the love of his life, Deb Stephanson, while attending Wadena High School. After High School, they went to Thompson, where Borden was employed at the mine. From there, they moved to Calgary and from Calgary to B.C. While in B.C., Borden found his passion in life, framing houses. Shortly after, in 1972 Borden & Deb were married. Two years later, their first son, Jeff was born. Soon after that, they moved back to Tisdale, where he built his first family home. In 1977, their second son, Brad was born. Borden continued his carpentry career in Tisdale and surrounding area. In 1981, he completed his Journeyman's Certificate.

The family moved to small town Star City together. Borden worked as a foreman at Nipawin Hydro Damn. They then purchased City Service, and continued to own & operate the business for 31 ½ years.

Jeff & Brad joined their dad in the carpentry business and in 2000 formed Farber Contracting Ltd, where they continued to work together until his passing.

Throughout the years, Borden & Deb went on numerous trips, hot destinations, & touring in the motorhome. Borden spent many hours volunteering for the Tisdale Fire Department, Star City Town Council, Star City Minor Sports & managing the boys hockey teams, loading up the kids & driving them from game to game.

Borden was determined to rebuild the family cabin so his grandchildren would have a great place to make memories. In 2002 demolition of the old cabin and building of the new began. After many years of building numerous homes for others, Borden came around and built him & Deb their retirement home back in Tisdale.

Borden was predeceased by his mother Mary Farber. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 43 years Deb, father John Farber (Gladys), sons Jeff (Tracy), Brad (Shelly), grandchildren, Jeremy, Landen, Kieran, Kylee and Jace, brothers Dave (Gloria), Don (Delaine), Jerry (Sandy), in laws: Shirley (Bob), Bob (Teresa) and Donna (Terry); as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins.
