    Obituary for Stephen Anthony Duesener

    Stephen Anthony Duesener
Stephen Anthony Duesener was born in Melfort, SK, on January 7, 1969, to John and Shirley Duesener. In 1970 they moved to their farm near McKague where Stephen grew up with his two younger sisters. He loved the farm and spent many hours working with the animals, especially the horses. He attended school in McKague through grade 9, then went to Tisdale Unit Composite School, graduating in 1987. He attended U of R for one year.
Stephen started working in carpentry at a very early age, helping his dad on weekends, mostly on clean up duty at the job sites, then moving up to using a hammer. As a young adult he spent many years working with his dad in various locations across Canada, and later on his own renovating and selling homes in Regina. In the 1990’s, Stephen took a break from the construction business when he was offered a job modelling. This venture took him to Toronto, Europe, and finally to Edmonton.
In 1996 he moved from Edmonton to Calgary, returning to the construction business focusing on the finishing trade. He moved back home to Tisdale to work in this field. Stephen moved into the building supply business, working for the Beeland Coop in Tisdale as lumber manager for 6 years, then moving to Pineland Coop in Nipawin as general manager of the Home Centre. In 2014 he accepted the manager position of the Home Hardware Store in North Battleford.

Stephen enjoyed travelling. Along with visiting countries in Europe, he travelled to the United States, the Carribbean, Africa as well as fishing excursions in the north. His latest trip was a vacation to Disney World with his family.
Stephen was an avid reader and enjoyed intellectual conversations. He was musical and enjoyed singing, playing the piano, guitar and banjo. He was an excellent dancer. He was involved in many sports and particularly enjoyed volleyball, curling, track, golfing and fishing. He was in his element when gardening and landscaping. He was compassionate and caring, a hard worker, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Stephen was predeceased by his Oma and Opa Duesener, Grandpa John Shirran, many aunts & uncles, first cousins Ursula Knoop and Adam Shirran.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, John and Shirley, sisters Camille (Guy McCrae, Nathan and Hailey) and Colleen (Curt Bowditch, Cameron, Brandon and Taylor) Grandma Beatrice Shirran, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins along with extended family and friends.
