Kathleen Sarah Josephine Wingham passed gently into the early light of the day on September 29, 2016 with her devoted husband George Stephen by her side.
Kay was born May 6, 1923 in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan to parents Joseph and Catherine Pinfold. She completed her nursing training at Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Kay was nicknamed “Tiny” by family and friends; Kay’s size was never a deterrent to her strong and steadfast spirit. Kay moved to Tisdale in 1951 when her husband George set up his dental practice.
Kay married her second husband George Wingham September 6, 1980. Together they spent many happy years travelling and sharing their love of sports: Curling, golfing and horseshoes. Kay was a strong athlete and an enthusiastic competitor in all sports. Kay’s devoted husband George was by her side as her health deteriorated.
In 2004 Kay was presented with community volunteer service award in recognition of her volunteerism and service to others. She supported the Terry Fox Run until she was 80 years of age. Kay had many talents: knitting, quilting and sewing. Her ability to mend anything was legendary. Her jams, sellers and African violets won many prizes at Canaught Fair.
Kay was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Catherine Pinfold, infant brother Joseph “Buddy” and her first husband George Robenson.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted husband George Wingham, three daughters: Maureen (Harry) Kurtz, Kathleen Gay (Dan) Hatton and Kristine (John O’Neil) Robenson; bother Vern (Donna ) Pinfold; many grandchildren, great Grandchildren; George’s family, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
