    Condolences

    Condolence From: Stew Edelman
Condolence: Gerry and I worked together for a quite a few years at WRT Equipment. He spent a lot of time at the office when he was in Saskatoon. He did this because he had a lot of work to do, was dedicated and also proud of what was being accomplished. He enjoyed his work but the time he really enjoyed was being at home with his family. He would go home for weekends and holidays. And then, return to work and tell about all his activities while at home. He did chores around the yard and buildings, made repairs and generally loved being there. It seemed that every task he tackled challenged his skills and determination. But from what he told his mates at work, he persevered. I know it was a test for him to get in his Jeep or truck and come back to Saskatoon when it was time. Being at home was what he really loved.

Gerry had a soft spot for motorcycles and if I recall correctly had a couple of different ones. He would go on bike trips but unfortunately these trips didn’t always work out the best. Bad weather, bad roads, heavy traffic or motorcycle issues brought him home early. While he had fun doing it, I think he found it stressful and didn’t cope with these issues very well.

Gerry loved nature! He appreciated the forests, animals, rivers and sand dunes. He made an effort to visit the sand dunes in the southwest part of our province. Visited Waskesiu as often as possible. Took pictures of birds and animals and then shared them with everyone that would take the time to enjoy them with him. He presented a color picture of a fox in a snow covered tree to Jean and I. The tree was either in his yard back home or very near it. Who knew that a fox could and would climb a tree? Gerry did a lot of photography as a hobby and was able to get some interesting photographs.

Gerry’s accident is a tragedy. He should have had more time to enjoy his retirement. His sister will truly miss him. Jean and I extend our condolences to Carol. God Bless.
