    Obituary for Joan Lorraine Hendren

    Joan Lorraine Hendren
Joan Lorraine Hendren (nee Forsyth) was born July 12, 1945 to Bertha Klassen and Percy Forsyth in Vernon, BC. Joan was predeceased by her parents, brother Valee Forsyth, and son Corey Hendren. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Larry Hendren, daughters Bevera (Tim) Allan, and Crystal (Daniel) Frenette, as well as grandchildren Jasmine, Kirstin, Logan, and Coral. Joan is also survived by her brothers Ron, Mel, Floyd, Dale, and their families.

Joan met Larry in Nanaimo, BC and after getting married, moved to Saskatchewan to begin her life with her “rich farmer”. Joan was a Mother, Grandmother, wife, and friend to many people. She loved children and her goal in early life was to have “6 kids”. Joan and Larry helped out their friends by extending their home to many people throughout the years. She was always thinking of others and reached out to many individuals to let them know she cared, through phone calls, letters before the advent of the internet, and later electronically. Social media was great for Joan as she could catch up with friends and relatives both near and far. Joan was very active in her community and was always the one to bring over “just a little something” either homemade or bought for baby or wedding showers, birthdays, and other life events.

Being a farmer's wife meant driving tractor, helping with cattle, and making meals on time. It also allowed Joan the time to crochet, knit, sew, harbinger, tat, cross stitch, and raise her children. Joan also took pride in her garden and flowers. Gladiolas were her favourite flower and she loved to grow different colours. Joan showed her adventurous side by hot air ballooning, sky diving, cliff jumping, and white water rafting. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed taking pictures of sunsets, cloud formations, trees, and images of interest to her. In her later years Joan joined an online photography club and always loved seeing friends' pictures on the internet.

Joan's grandchildren were her pride and joy. They all have memories of time spent with Grandma picking and shelling peas, making cakes, cookies, and squares, catching frogs, jumping bales, and doing many crafts. Joan went to every occasion that she could for her grandchildren and encouraged them in all events of their lives
