    Obituary for Therese Lumina Aden

    Therese Lumina Aden
Therese Lumina Aden (nee Bernatchez) was born August 23, 1941 in Zenon Park, Saskatchewan. She was the third youngest in a family of 13 children.

Mom grew up on the family farm in Zenon Park where she learned the traits of hard work, chores, tending and caring of livestock and many family pets, planting and reaping the rewards of fresh vegetables, cooking and canning. These are the things she enjoyed throughout her life passing that knowledge and skill down to her children and grandchildren.

Mom took her schooling in Zenon Park which eventually led her to coming to the big city of Tisdale where she secured a job as a nurse’s aide at St Theresa Hospital. It was in Tisdale where she met her future husband, Conrad Aden, a union that produced four children: Christine, Rosanne, Anne and Nadine.

Mom worked at various jobs throughout her life, her last job being Head Custodian for the Tisdale Public School. Upon her retirement, she continued to enjoy gardening, canning and remained a faithful fan of the daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless (even though she hated Victor Newman). She also enjoyed the program The Golden Girls, and was pretty annoyed when the television station no longer aired the show.

Mom always took the time to help others by visiting seniors’ home and running errands for them as a lot of them didn’t have family close by. She developed many close relationships with the people she befriended there and enjoyed the time she got to spend with “her ladies”.

Mom also had a soft spot for animals. She often took in many stray animals throughout the years including what her children found and brought home.

Mom loved her faith and attending the Catholic Church. This was very important to her. When her health declined and it was too difficult to attend church on Sunday, she made sure she read the readings and gospel in her Missalette every week and watched Daily Mass on television. She looked forward to receiving Communion in her home or in the hospital and was grateful to be kept a part of her church family. She carried her Rosary with her wherever she went and often said, “wherever I go – He goes’. Mom prayed the Rosary every day.

Mom was predeceased by her husband, Conrad, her granddaughter, Sarah Minhinnick, her parents, Omer and Alice Bernatchez, twin infant siblings Henri and Henriette Bernatchez, brothers Augustine, John, Robert and Daniel Bernatchez. Mom was also predeceased by many extended family members on both hers and Conrad’s side.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Christine (Brian) Minhinnick, Rosanne Aden (Cosimo Carone), Anne (Brian) Slade and Nadine Aden (Harold Cox). She is also survived by grandchildren: Dallas Minhinnick (Kim Ferguson and her son Austin), Emily Minhinnick (Blake Cholodnuik), Eric Isberg, Katherine (Jonothan) Moroz, Amanda (Kevin) Stevens and Nicole Slade; great grandchildren Ty Minhinnick and Baylee Stevens. She is also survived by her brother Peter (Marguerite) Bernatchez, sisters: Rita Freeman, Rollande Jones, Angeline Jones, Cecile (George) Walker and Denise (Maynard) Nowoselski-Erickson as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
