Obituary for Emilia McGratten

Emelia was born on the family farm to John & Katerina Kudelka. She was the second child of the family of 5 children. She was 85 yrs. old; she passed away peacefully on Thursday morning in her sleep. Emelia grew up on the family farm north of Peesane and got her schooling in the Peesane School. Emelia decided to become a nurse and worked in St. Theresa Hospital in Tisdale and later years in the Nipawin Hospital.In 1954 she met the love of her life Gerald McGratten they were married in 1954 they lived briefly in Saskatoon & Prince Albert and then moved to E.B Campbell Hydroelectric Station were Gerry was employed with Sk. Power, from their they moved to Nipawin where they resided from 1960 to 2015. In 2015 Emelia had to make her new home at Newmarket Place due to health reasons; here she made many more new friends and was very competitive in many activities & games. She also loved to color especially pictures of birds. In 1964 they completed their family with their chosen daughter Lorraine Alice they spent many happy years watching her grow up & go off to school & graduate and also watching her figure skate for several years. Emelia loved her garden and her flowers. She was also a member to the Lutheran church in Nipawin and also loved to sing and was a member of the singing pines choir. She was a mother, sister and auntie to all her nieces & nephews she was loved by all who knew her. Emelia was predeceased by her husband Gerald in 2014, her parent’s John & Katherina Kudelka & sister Susan Kozial.
Left to mourn her are: daughter Lorraine Sraybash of Calgary AB.; brother Steve & (Bettyann) Kudelka of Tisdale & family; sisters Ann & (John) Klatik of Camrose, AB and family; Mary Bray of Kelowna, BC and family and deceased sister Susan Kozial’s family; & extended family, also many friends
