Obituary for Peter Henry Dyck

On August 12, 2018, Peter “Pete” Dyck passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Tisdale, SK, at the age of 86.

Born November 27, 1931, in Garthland, SK, Pete grew up on a farm with his six siblings. He is predeceased by his parents Peter Sr. and Elizabeth Dyck, and four siblings Betty, Mary, Tina, and Henry.

Pete will be missed by his spouse Clarita Witman; sister Sarah Seeman; brother Jake Dyck; six children Cindy Bernakevitch (Bruce), Elaine Poley (Robert), Sherry Bradbury (Allester), Jerry Dyck (Valerie), Jeff Dyck (Kari-Dale), Tim Dyck (Wendy); his 15 grandchildren; and his 14 great grandchildren.

Throughout his youth and most of his adult life, Pete was a strong, brawny man, with a good heart and a one-of-a-kind sense of humour. He loved to laugh and always had a good joke ready to entertain everyone around him. He loved spending time with his family telling stories about his life’s adventures, listening to old time country music, going to auction sales, and especially being outdoors where he loved to hunt and fish.

He was a hard worker and wore many different hats throughout his lifetime. Most of his jobs included physical labour, which seemed to come easy to him and he enjoyed. He worked in many industries in northern Saskatchewan including pipeline, powerline, and farming. He was a successful logging contractor in the Hudson Bay, SK, area for many years, and at one point owned his own restaurant in Porcupine Plain, SK, called “Pete’s Place”.

Peter will be laid to rest in Hudson Bay, SK, where he spent most of his adult life, raised his family, and called “home”.
