Christa Gertrude Gartner was born July 25, 1941 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. She is now free of pain and went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2018 at the Regina General Hospital. She was 77 years old. Christa grew up on the farm, she was middle sister to older brother Erhard and younger brother Vern. She enjoyed helping Oma with the cooking and cleaning on the farm.
Christa married Ernest Messer on December 4, 1965 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan and then moved to his family homestead. She was a devoted farm wife bringing meals to the fields and helping to raise the animals. They were blessed with one child; Anita. Christa and Ernest were married for 52 years.
Christa enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, cleaning, canning and reading the Bible. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family dearly and always made sure they knew. Christa will always be remembered for her baking. She always had full margarine containers of baking that she would bring to the grandkids as well as bring up from the freezer whenever company arrived. She loved to cook and would prepare large full course meals any chance she got.
Christa loved the Lord with her whole heart, and served him all of her life. She looked forward to Sunday church services, and when not attending church would pray for all members of her family daily.
Christa was predeceased by her parents Karl and Gertrude (Fredrich) Gaertner, her brother and sister in law Vern Gaertner and Marie (Gaertner) Edwards. Sister in Law Earla (Messer) Arndt.
Christa leaves to treasure her memory her husband Ernest Messer, her daughter Anita (Joe) Wirll, Randy Bennett. Two Grandchildren: Charlie-Rae (Michael) Sittler, Daniel Bennett. Four Step Grandchildren: Mike (Desiree) Wirll, JJ (Vanessa) Wirll, Shay Wirll, Tabitha Wirll. Two Great-Grandchildren: Kingston and Kolter Sittler. Seven Step-Great-Grandchildren: Aliyah and Berkley Wirll, Nevaya and Maverick Wirll, Sara, Chanel and Gineva Wirll. One brother: Erhard (Ann) Gaertner, one sister-in law Bertha (Messer) Kelly, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Christa will be lovingly missed by all of her family and friends.
