Obituary for Ashley Elizabeth Patterson

Ashley passed away peacefully with her husband at her side on June 22, 2019 at St Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. Ashley was born on March 27, 1985 in Calgary, AB. She grew up in Strathmore, AB. She loved animals, nature, and spending time with the neighbourhood girls who became sisters.

In 2007 Ashley left her “sisters” behind and moved to Tisdale, SK following her loving parents and sister. It was in Tisdale that Ashley met the love of her life Matt. Ashley and Matt were inseparable, they were “Lobsters For Life”. They enjoyed time at the family cabin, fishing and of course spending time with their “chanimals” Monty, Molly, Maya, and Snoop Catt. They also enjoyed taking long drives and listening to music while talking about literally anything that either was thinking about, it was very soul calming.

On July 31, 2010 Ashley and Matt got married at the Falkon Theatre in Tisdale, SK. It was such a fairytale day and she was so beautiful and happy. Matt became happier with everyday spent with her by his side. Matt and Ashley travelled to a few destinations, but Ashley’s favourite place to relax was just 30 minutes south of Tisdale at Kipabiskau Lake. She loved to feed the birds, watch the birds, keeping track of which ones she had seen. This year for the first time ever an oriole showed up, Ashley was so happy. Ashley and Matt also spent countless hours fishing on Kip. They often didn’t catch much, but it was never about the fishing.

Ashley loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She had the ability to play like a kid, she didn’t care who was watching. Whether it was making funny faces or being a nail model she was always available. She also spent many a evening and many a morning sipping coffee and talking about the days topics with hers and Matt’s parents. The Patterson’s gained a daughter when Matt met Ashley. No matter how unwell she felt, Ashley would never miss a family get together.

Ashley and Heather are sisters, but moreover they are best friends. They told each other everything and always supported each other no matter what. Whether it was a ladies night out or popcorn and a movie in, they always had fun together. Ashley could always rely on Heather for unconditional love.

Ashley faced challenges everyday battling Lupus, but never once did she give up on herself. She always found a way to push through to find the sunshine. Her positive attitude, her cheerful spirit, and her love emanated from within her. She will be greatly missed but will forever live inside of our hearts.

“Stay on the Sunny Side of Life”
