Obituary for Magdalene Virog

Magdalene was born January 7, 1920 in Velica Pesanca, Yugoslavia. In 1927, at the age of 7, Magdalene moved to Canada with her Sister, Auralia, and mom, Magdalin, to be with her dad. She went to boarding school in Tisdale, SK and later, finished school in Mistatim, SK. She married Joe Virog in Wakaw, SK in 1937.
She worked hard on their farm in Mistatim, SK for many years. During this time, she was also involved in the Catholic Women’s League. In 1989, Joe`s health was starting to fail so they moved to Saskatoon to be closer to their son, Leonard, and health facilities. She was very active in the Senior`s apartment until 2016. In the fall of 2016, her health started to catch up to her age and she needed to move into a personal care home. Then in the spring of 2019, she moved into long term care.
She loved crocheting, shuffleboard, cards, carpet bowling, cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends.
Magdalene is predeceased by her sisters Mariska and Auralia; brothers Zoltan and Nandor, husband Joe, son Denis, grandsons Scott and Steven.
Left to cherish Magdalene’s memory is her brother: Mike Szucs, sister: Mary Litzenberger; sons: Leonard (Karen) Virog and Clifford (Debbie) Virog; grandchildren: Michelle Virog, Rochelle Yaniw (Darwin), Jeremy Virog (Kristie), and Pamela Prefontaine (Sheldon); great grandchildren: Jaevin Virog, Jaxson Yaniw, Shaylin Yaniw, Josie Prefontaine, Teagan Prefontaine and Ava Prefontaine; as well as many extended family and friends.
