Obituary for Joseph James Edward "Jim" Armstrong

Jim Armstrong was born in Tisdale on April 22 in 1950 to Ed and Martha Armstrong. He grew up with 3 sisters, Betty, Erma and Lois on a dairy farm just east of Tisdale. Jim graduated from TUCS in 1968. He then went to the U of S and worked at Maple Leaf foods for 2 years.
In 1971, Jim married Janice Parker and their daughter April followed in 1972. Jim returned to University and completed his degree in Animal Science from the U of S. Jennie was born in 1974 and the family moved to Melville. In 1976 the family relocated to Yorkton where Jim worked for the Saskatchewan Government.
In 1979, Lori was born and completed the family before they moved to Tisdale. Jim and Janice have been there ever since. Jim worked as a livestock agrologist and performed a management role with Sask Ag and Food before retiring in 2011.
Jim was very community-minded. He was active in the Kinsmen club; he loved helping others and working on a team to support and better the community. Jim coached his daughters in ringette and softball. When he wasn’t coaching, he was cheering them on in sports, drama and dance.
Jim has held season tickets to the Trojans since the club was first created. He served on the executive and was the home game announcer for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed sports and would often be seen supporting various teams throughout the year.
Sports did take a backseat after his grandchildren were born. Lucie, Marley and Flynn became his world. He loved spending time with them going to park, breakfast or coffee. He was teaching them how to garden and any time spent outside with grandpa was the best time.
Jim had many friends in his life. He always had time to help, visit or listen. He always led by example and lived by his values; embracing his friends and family, serving as both a confidant and guide.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Janice, his daughters April, Jennie and Lori (Dana), and his grandchildren Lucie, Marley and Flynn. He is also survived by his sisters Betty, Erma and Lois (Jerry), and his extended family that he loved and cherished.
