Obituary for Madeline Deforest

Madeline Marjorie Deforest
September 8, 1921 – April 28, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great/Great Great Grandmother, Madeline Deforest at the Good Shepherd Villa in Prince Albert, SK on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the age of 98.
Madeline was born on September 8, 1921 in Davidson, SK to parents Robert and Elsie Cole. The family subsequently moved to a farm in the Caragana area where she attended Tall Spruce School.
On October 31, 1940, Madeline married Abraham Deforest at Lyon’s Store in Crooked River, SK. They settled in Bannock, SK where they raised their 5 children, Arnold, Ronald, Jerrald, Delphine and Cheryl. After the school closed in Bannock, the family moved to lease land in the Prairie River area where they farmed for many years. Abe and Madeline retired to Tisdale, where they enjoyed dancing and spending time with family and friends.
After Abe’s passing, Madeline moved to Prince Albert where she lived at Carment Court and the Good Shepherd Villa.
Madeline loved going for drives in the country, volunteering at Riverside Community School, traveling, dancing, watching birds or anything related to nature and most importantly, spending time with her family. There were so many family gatherings over the years, including her 80th, 90th and 95th birthday celebrations! We will all miss her greatly as she was the centre of our family gatherings!
