Obituary for Irene Louise Evans

Irene Louise Schweitzer was born May 18, 1933 in a home near Algrove, Saskatchewan she was the middle child of nine of Frank and Rosalia Schweitzer. She attended school at Everton, Saskatchewan. She enjoyed sports and attended field days in the area. Irene left school after grade ten and worked for various neighbours. She moved to Prairie River with family and helped with working and farm chores. She and her sister Josephine spent time working in Eston at the hospital
She met her future husband at one of the local dances in the Lightwood/McKague area. Irene married Robert Evans July 20, 1954. They were blessed with two children; Louise (Les) Bulmer and Glen (Heather) Evans. Irene loved her grandchildren: Lonnie (Conny) Hailey and Tristen; Lyndon (Blair) Kasen and Kwade.
Irene also enjoyed gardening and square dancing; cooking was also a great joy and a cup of tea was always readily available along with some dainties. If you were up for a good card game she was ready play.
Irene was at a great loss when her husband of 40 years passed away in 1996. She left the farm life and moved to a condo in Tisdale and adjusted to town life. She always loved music and met a good friend Gary Chute. Together they enjoyed playing music and entertaining at the senior facilities in Tisdale. They enjoyed going to Gary’s farm at Somme. Irene liked to use the riding lawn mower to cut grass. They even fixed up a small cabin that they enjoyed together.
Irene had a great struggle with dementia over the past ten years. She moved to Newmarket Place April 19, 2017. She resided there until her passing July 6, 2020 with her family and Gary close by.
Irene is predeceased by her parents Frank and Rosalia Schweitzer,brother William Schweitzer, sisters Evelyn and Diane, sister-in-law Arda Schweitzer and brother-in-law Merle Turnquist and Robert Hewitt.
Left to Cherish her memory is her daughter Louise (Les) Bulmer and son Glen (Heather) Evans; grandchildren Lonnie (Conny) Bulmer, Hailey and Tristen and Lyndon (Blair) Bulmer, Kasen and Kwade. She is survived by her sister Alice (Allan) Black, Brother Arnold (Jenny) Schweitzer, sister Josephine (Bert) Moors, brother Erwin (Betty) Schweitzer, sister Lorraine (Orville) Burak; as well as numerous nieces, nephew, extended family and friends.
