Obituary for Wilfred Earnheart Lutz

Wilfred Lutz was born on January 16, 1929 to John & Eva Lutz (Schick) at Frankslake, SK. He was the youngest of 10 children. The family moved to the Mistatim area when Wilfred was 5 years old, due to the “dirty 30’s”. He attended Bachelor District School until grade 10. Wilfred took his grade 11 and 12 in Tisdale. After high school Wilfred returned to the farm due to his father’s passing.
Wilfred met Marjorie Thompson at a dance in Mistatim, and they were married on July 31, 1953. So life began on the farm. Wilfred was already involved in harness racing with his brothers in the summer. In the winter the brothers logged with horses around the area, and they were fortunate to have their own sawmill. They traded the lumber for machinery, seed, and even furniture.
Wilfred and Marjorie worked very hard side by side, be it milking cows, picking roots, making bales, harvesting, and the list goes on. Together they raised 3 children; Garth, Blair and Susan. The whole family was involved on the farm for many years.
Over the years Wilfred hunted, fished and played hockey with the Mistatim senior team until he was 44. After retirement from hockey he took up refereeing and soon became everyone’s “friend”. At the same time Wilfred was coaching Garth and Blair in hockey and ball. Not yet busy enough he took up auctioneering and worked for the local auctioneers. Wilfred also sat on the Rink board, Tisdale Hospital board, Tisdale Vet board, and for 18 years at the RM. At the age of 56 he taught himself how to play the saxophone. He then formed a band, and the old time dances, music jamborees and barn dances began. Wilfred and Marjorie loved to travel and together they attended 18 bus trips and a trip to Denmark to watch Nathan play hockey.
In 2013 Wilfred and Marjorie made Tisdale their home. Life slowed down a bit. Wilfred loved to watch the Blue Jays in the summer and Maple Leafs in the winter. Wilfred had many hobbies and interests over the years. He enjoyed attending his 8 grandchildren’s and 14 great grandchildren’s activities and sports, but most of all he loved having them come for a visit.
Wilfred had a deep faith in his Lord. He would spend time reading the bible and would discuss religion with anyone.
Wilfred was very loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of 66 years (almost 67) Marjorie, his children Garth (Linda), Blair (Angela), Susan (Doug), his grandchildren Nathan (Kayla), Andrea, Janell, Blaire (Todd), Miles, Apollonia (Clint), Dallas (Brady), Tiffany (Johnathon), his great grandchildren Abby, Brooks, Mercedes, Jett, Luke, Andrew, Tyson, Amia, Zackery, Farrah, Cash, Owen, Lawson and Jake, one sister in law Marie Lutz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
We will all miss him so much.
“Grandpa has ears that truly listen, arms that always hold, love that’s never-ending, and a heart that’s made of gold.”
