    Obituary

Henry was born on his parent’s homestead near Lake Lenore. He spent many years working as a carpenter for the Humboldt school division, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and Lang Brother’s Construction. With his brother John, they had their own company in Melfort in the 60’s and 70’s. For a change Henry worked in Kitmat, British Columbia in the Aluminin Smelters for a while. In 1972 he married his wife Linda of 48 years. In 1975, they bought their farm east of McKague where he grain farmed and raised cattle and hogs. He resided there until his passing.

He is predeceased by his parents Heinrich and Theofrieda, sister Annie Taphorn, brothers-in-law Paul Taphorn, Peter Anduchow, Hans Knoop, niece Ursala Knoop and nephew Stephen Duesener.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Linda, son Chad (Stacey), daughters Cindy (Mike) and Brenda (Tony), grandchildren Tristyn, Cole, Ethan, Aiden, Nichelle and Logan; brothers John (Shirley), Frank (Nancy), sisters Rose Anduchow and Kathy Knoop; as well as many extended family and friends.

Henry will be sadly missed by all who knew him, for the quality of his character was only rivalled by the quality of his craftsmanship. When we moved into our house, the kitchen drawers were in need of repair. I tried various things involving glue or finishing nails or duct tape, but the particle board had exceeded it's lifespan. Henry built new backs for the drawers and put them on rolling tracks, and I still remember the feeling of joy, relief and gratitude each time I opened one of them. I told Henry this, and the story of how I came into the kitchen one evening to find one of our young daughters standing in front of a drawer, enjoying repeatedly opening and closing it while she smiled.
