Obituary for Stella Marie Larsen

Stella was born June 21, 1928 to Carolina and Peter Mervold in Star City Saskatchewan. In 1948 Stella married Lloyd Larsen and in 1950 Lois Stella was born. Stella and Lloyd lived for many years in Star City and after retiring and Lloyd’s passing, she moved to Tisdale where she resided in McKay Towers and then Newmarket Place until her passing.

Stella got her nursing training and worked for many years as a nurse at the Tisdale hospital. Stella was well known as the local nurse for Star City and many in the community would phone her for medical advice. She took pride in her community and was always there for people when they required help or assistance. She was also known as the bird lady of Star City, as she raised and subsequently sold hundreds of budgies to local pet stores. Stella was also an active member of the Star City Pentecostal Church, loved her shihtzu dogs and had a passion for doing jigsaw puzzles and listening to gospel music. Stella also enjoyed playing a number of musical instruments including the piano, accordion, harp and harmonica.

Stella is predeceased by her husband Lloyd, her parents Carolina and Peter, her sisters Winona, Zona, Glenna, Glory and brothers Duffy and Peter.
