Obituary for Dennis Bruce Telford Dahlsjo

Dennis was born on December 3, 1940 to Magnus and Bergliot Dahlsjo at Kinistino, Saskatchewan. He grew up living on the family farm. Dennis attended school in Kinistino until he transferred to Spalding High School for grade twelve. After graduation, Dennis found work in Melfort, Saskatchewan in the retail business.

In the spring of 1965, Dennis met the love of his life, Audrey Pierce. He spotted her, singing with her sister in the choir, at the Barry Moore crusade in Melfort. His pastor’s wife filled him in with the details about who the young blond singer was. This was the beginning of their courtship.

In the fall of that year, Dennis enrolled in Miller Bible College in Pambrun, Saskatchewan. The love letters between them kept the postman very busy while Audrey was a schoolteacher in Tisdale. They were engaged by Christmas and married the following December in 1966.

Dennis and Audrey made Tisdale their home where he continued to work in the retail industry. In 1969, Dennis furthered his studies enrolling at the University of Saskatchewan to study Education. He began his teaching career as the principal of the McKague School in McKague, Saskatchewan. While principal, Dennis and Audrey welcomed the birth of their only daughter, Angela, in September of 1981.

Dennis remained principal at McKague until the school closed. Afterwards, he continued his teaching career in Tisdale at the Centennial Junior High School and later at Tisdale Middle and Secondary School. Dennis retired from teaching in 1999, the same year his daughter Angela graduated from high school.

In addition to his career as a schoolteacher, Dennis was also a farmer and a mechanic, helping to keep the farm machinery operating well.

Not being one to sit at home and twiddle his thumbs, Dennis found full time work at Sargent’s Auto Electric in Tisdale shortly after retiring from teaching. His speciality was as a small motor mechanic. He continued to work at Sargent’s until April of 2021.

Dennis loved music from an early age and sang in various music groups throughout his lifetime. He also enjoyed fishing and went on fishing trips with his brothers and a memorable trip with his friend Bill Neufeld, his son-in-law Gaven and grandson Eben.

Dennis went to be with his loving Heavenly Father on June 1, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents: Magnus and Bergliot Dahlsjo, infant brother: Glenwood, his parents-in-law: Arthur and Olivien Pierce, brothers-in-law: Wilmer Pierce and Wayne Stilling, nephews: Barry Dahlsjo and Michael Pierce, and niece: Cheryl Stilling.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Audrey, his daughter Angela (Gaven), his five grandchildren: Bjorgen, Eben, Kjersti, Njorklund and Eerikki, his brothers: Wayne (Judy), Paul (Annabelle) and Loy (Carla), his sisters-in-law: Marguerite, Sharon (Allan) and Shirley (Earl), his brother-in-law: Don (Donna) and many nieces, nephews, and friends
