Norman Elwood was born in Regina and was raised by Frank and Dora Pearse of Leacross Saskatchewan. Norms early years were enjoyed with his older brother Thomas Edwin (Ned) and younger sister Lynda. Norm lived most of his life in Silver Stream, never far from his original home. He spent a short time in Saskatoon as a young man before returning to Tisdale area to follow his passion.

In 1965 Norm met and married, the love of his life, Francis Louise (Windo) from Edam Saskatchewan. Norm and Fran had two daughters Twila (Diederichs) and Tammy (Prongua). Although Norm dabbled in the bees, it was not the path for them, and they continued to the work the land until their decision to retire from farming in 1999. Norm missed the dirt and to ease into his retirement, he worked for a couple years for local farmers.

Throughout his years farming Norm discovered a passion for woodworking. What began as a small hobby or a labor of love making items for his family, soon grew into Norm creating a wide range of pieces for many others. Norms projects can be seen in the local hospital, numerous churches and many homes near and far.

Norm always lived close to his roots but was curious and they took any opportunity to travel and journeyed on numerous bus and road trips growing many new friendships along the way.

In 2008 Norm and Fran moved to Tisdale and purchased a house and made it a home to fit their needs. Many visits and projects were created in the little woodshop attached to that garage. While living in Tisdale Norm was actively involved with Lions Club and was always quick to lend a hand wherever needed.

One of Norms greatest joys throughout the years was his family. Whatever or wherever he was, Norm treasured his family most and was very proud of his four grandchildren: Cody (Jen) Diederichs, Robin (Koale) Litwinow, Clay (Kellie) Diederichs, and Madison Prongua. Norms legacy extended into his 7 great grandchildren: Kayson, Raya, and Wyatt Diederichs, Lindley, Brielle and Deagan Litwinow and Nadia Diederichs.

As their health declined and the road trips to be with family became more difficult, they expressed a desire to move closer to them. In March of 2023 they moved to Saskatoon and continued to enjoy those precious family moments.

Norm passed quietly in Saskatoon and will be missed by many.
