    Obituary for Jean Delores L'Arrivee

    Jean Delores L'Arrivee
    Jean Delores L'Arrivee (nee Baillie)

Jean was born in St Boniface, MB, April 20, 1932. She spent her entire life in the Connell Creek area, attending school in Connell Creek, Jordan River and Zenon Park. In July 1951 she married Edmour L'Arrivee and had 4 children, Gilbert, Margaret, Louis and Jo-Anne.

Jean and Edmour farmed in the summer and worked at sawmills in the winter until the children started school, then Jean looked after the farm in the winter while Edmour worked at the sawmill during the week and came home to the farm on the weekends. Many winters Jean was in charge of the farm-milking cows, and caring for other livestock. The milk cows were good cream-producers and for many years Jean shipped cream to the Tisdale Creamery. There were always new chicks in the spring, so there would be fryers for sale later in the year. Jean loved to dress up and look her best – it should have been no surprise that she was the Avon Lady in the Connell Creek/Jordan River area for a number of years.

Jean was very active in the Legion Auxiliary and held the positions of the Secretary-treasurer and President. The Legion Auxiliary and Legion are a very close-knit organization and many summer barbeques were hosted at Edmour and Jean’s farm.

Jean loved to garden and especially loved flowers and shared her love by giving her friends a bouquet when she visited with them. The garden was always huge and never seemed to fail – there was always produce to give away.

As a wife and mother on a farm in rural SK, Jean learned how to drive and operate farm equipment, in fact took her drivers-test driving a 3 ton truck.

Jean loved music and loved to dance – she was not a wall flower and was always up for a good time. She was always full of life and had a beautiful smile on her face – we will always remember.

Jean suffered with arthritis for years and later in life, Alzheimer's. Jean is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edmour, son Gilbert, daughter Margaret (grandchildren Ryan Campbell and Aimee Jackson and husband Kris and great granddaughter Cate), son Louis (wife Jean) and grandchildren (Chris, Tim and wife Anita and great granddaughter Abby, and Mike and wife Jamie and great grandson Oscar), and daughter Jo-Anne and husband Ron.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held April 4th, 10am at St. Lucy’s Roman Catholic Church in Arborfield. In remembrance, the family asks that you make a donation to the Alzheimer's Society or the Arborfield Special Care Home.
