Jim was born on the family homestead farm south of Sylvania. He spent his entire life in Sylvania until the last 10 years when they made the move to Tisdale. He left school at a very early age to help out on the family farm. He worked for Canadian Pacific Railways for many years and then went to work for Magnus Construction for many years. He retired at age 58 after having bowel cancer. He then drove the Town tractor until he was 80 years old. He enjoyed those years and kept our little hamlet looking beautiful. He was a gentle and quiet man who worked hard for his family and for the community of Sylvania. He coached his boys’ Senior Hockey Team for many years. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his daughter Maryellen Kjelshus, parents Henry & Ellen Ellis, brothers Keith, Bob, Melville and Dave, sister Marie, brothers-in-law Gerald Beliveau & Wally Samida, sisters-in-law, Phyllis Ellis and Lila Ellis
He leaves his wife of 66+ years, Margaret, daughter Catherine (Guy), their children Jason and Natalie, son Brian (Janine), their children Aimee, Janey, Mitch, Brittany, Jennifer and Courtney, son Rick (Sherry), their children Becky and Kurtis, son-in-law Irvin Kjelshus and his children, Rhonda, Lynette and Kris plus 17 great grandchildren; also his only remaining sibling Lillian Beliveau and sister-in-law Helen; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
