Lucy Ileen Powell (nee Moulding) was born on the farm at Netherhill, Saskatchewan to Thomas and Ethel Moulding on February 19, 1919. She went to school in the communities of Gillispie, Kenlis, Forester and lived in a little cabin with her cousin Isabelle Ross in the Clashmoor school yard to get her grade 10 and 11.
Lucy worked hard all her life helping her parents with all their borders. On October 28, 1940 she married James Earnest Powell and began farm life, housekeeping, gardening, canning, milking cows, raising chickens to sell, trucking grain and getting bales up etc.
In January 1948 their first child was born, Kathleen, and in 1952 their son Richard was born. They remained farming until June 1993 when they moved to McKay Tower. They enjoyed their new life of playing cards, shuffleboard, pool, bingo, quilting and her hobbies of sewing, knitting, crocheting and painting.
In 2000 Ernie passed away at Sasko Park Lodge and she stayed at McKay Tower until Mar 22, 2015 when she became sick with Pneumonia and then spent 2 days in Newmarket Place before her passing on May 1, 2015.
Lucy is predeceased by her husband Ernie, parents Thomas and Ethel Moulding, sister Gladys, in-laws George and Winnifred Powell, sisters-in-law June, Alba, Ruby, Julia, Dorothy, Mary, and Phoebe; brothers-in-law Harold, Raymond, Clifford, William, Fred and son-in-law William.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Kathleen; Colleen (Bryce), Ethan and Zara Hleucka, Garry Knuff; son Richard (Heather) Powell, Melody (Nelson), Carter and Aaron Bergh, Matthew (Jen), Paige and Blayke Powell; brother Norman Moulding, brother-in-law Nick Shemko and sister-in-law Mary Powell; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
